It makes me feel so happy when i first receive a call from a prospectus client and ask where they got my contact details and the reply is that its a referral from a friend i already shot their wedding! Nicolas and Georgia were living in London at the time and the first we met face to face was at my former studio in Nicosia, i remember asking if they would like some coffee and when they came in they were so surprised that the coffee was from Nicolas friend Aris who opened a speciality coffee shop near my studio. I did not know at the time Nicolas was a barista himself so the talk about coffee and lighting took over as Georgia is a light designer! First time i met a light designer!
After a few moths we met at Georgias grandparents village Vavatsinia for our pre wedding shoot. I always have a pre wedding shoot with my couples to make them feel comfortable in front of the lens and me so that the wedding day flows without any intervention from me as my role is to capture moments and not stop the flow of the wedding for set up poses. We had a lovely walk and chat at the village and Georgia told me the love she has for mulberries hence the name of the village, its full of mulberry trees and bushes. Unfortunately they were out of season to try some but the result from the photos and time spend together was exactly what i was looking for!
We then had a coffee at her grandparents house and called it a day :)
The wedding day arrived and i am always exited when that happens! Riding my bike to Larnaka on that October morning was such a joy, the weather was lovely and sunny and i was so exited to see the other vendors that i was working with for Nicolas & Georgia's wedding. I got a warm greeting by her father who was a bit worried about raining at night at the venue but had no doubts about the weather so talked eased him with the weather forecast :) At the door was Savvas, Andreas and Leukos from Cinesen already filming details like the lovely handmade shoes Shoes of Prey from and various other accessories like the invitations from Vesi at The V Designs. Georgia was at Peter from Sxima Hairdressing at the time getting her hair done.
Andreas, Savvas and i finished capturing the details and departed to meet Nicolas at his parents house. he was outside when we arrived chatting with his friends, we went in they made traditional coffee for us we had a chat and i remember Andreas commenting on his shoes from Oliver Sweeney, i was particularly impressed by his inner suit with floral design from design house Without Prejudice. The traditional festivities took part and everyone was so into it singing, clapping and enjoying the moments!
We parted and went back to Georgias house to find a full house of smiles and positive energy, i went upstairs to her room to find her laughing, chatting with her friends, bridesmaids and Sally Panayiotou, the make up artist, doing her magic. After finishing she got her wedding dress on witch was by Litous Studio and the festivities began with a lot of emotion and tears.
Got my bike and rode very relaxed to the church taking some time to calm down from the tension caused by a very emotional event. I found Antigoni there directing the staff of
Kanella Mavri Zachari where to place the decor and managing the plan of action! I am always very happy and exited to see her and her team as i know everything will be as planed and decoration will be out of the ordinary. On this day many layers for silk ribbon where used to accentuate the wedding color berry theme with the contrast of an ancient church like Angeloktisi at Kiti.
The church was candle lit and dark just the way i like it to enchase the mystery of the ceremony and contrast of shadows was superb. The choreography of movement between me and Cinesen was once more perfect and i was very happy to document all the moments undisturbed. The hour passed and we moved on to the garden for cocktail hour. It was a small calm down time for me talking with past clients attending the wedding and new faces wanting to know more about what and how i work. Lovely times!
I packed my gear on my bike again and i was headed to Dafermou winery at Lefkara village, i rode by the beautiful sea coast and then at valley roads breathing fresh air.Arriving at Dafermou i was pleasantly surprised by the decor and details by Kanella Mavri Zachari. The whole space was transformed to a colourful bliss for guests to enjoy the party! After the couples entrance and the cake cutting a few very nice speeches by friends of the couple took place, and a surprise cake for Georgias grandparents as it that particular day they were celebrating their 50th anniversary together!!!
The party then started and the rest i will keep to my self ;)
I wish to thank all the vendors that worked on that day for a beautiful seamless problem free wedding day. You are all worth the investment and my kudos to all again. I wish also all the people that made me feel welcomed and particularly Nicolas and Georgia for choosing me to capture and imprint their day!
Thank you all, you rock! Damian :)
